The Artist

Charles George’s inspiration and talent for art was apparent at a very early age. When he was a young child, his paternal grandmother taught him his first art lessons. While sitting on his grandmother’s knee, Charles would spend hours a day learning shapes, lines, colors, and simple drawings skills. These initial art lessons were the beginning and the very foundation of Charles’ inspiration to pursue a life devoted to art.

Throughout Charles’ early adolescent years, his grandmother continued to teach him and develop his skills.

When entering school, Charles quickly started getting noticed by his teachers for his creativity and his art skills. Often his art was selected to hang in the school hallways. Even more prestigiously, frequently his art was selected to hang at the local malls or at the school board. When he was six years old, he painted a mural at the Children’s Museum in Richmond, Virginia. He stood on a chair and reached as high as he could to paint it. The staff at the museum was so impressed that they called one of the local television stations. The station featured Charles and his mural on the last segment of the evening news that night. This was Charles’ first publicity for his art at a very early age. All of this recognition from so many people inspired Charles to continue to pursue his passion. He loved to create art!

Upon entering high school, Charles continued to pursue his art. His senior year he completed the highest level art class his school offered. He painted murals    within the school and started to get more requests for his art and drawings. He designed a logo for the window of a local restaurant and he won more art competitions.

Upon graduating high school, while continuing his formal education, Charles started working with a company that did commercial art. He learned, trained and polished his skills, while continuing to pursue his passion for art.

In 1996, Charles reentered the fine art market again with a painting of his titled “Victory Dreams.” He painted this specifically for Colonial Downs’ prestigious juried art show.  Out of 400 entries, Charles painting was selected and displayed at Colonial Downs the inaugural year.  He was the youngest artist in the show.

Since this time, Charles’ art has continued to evolve and grow.

Over the last eleven years, Charles has continued to pursue, create and sell his art. Though his art has continued to evolve and grow, his passion for animals has lead him to using many animals as the subject matter and composition in his art.

Charles has sold his art throughout the United States. Charles’ fascination with technology and his passion for his customers has inspired him to offer his paintings online. He believes through this website, he can interact more individually with each customer, while offering each individual a more interactive experience, than through the normal artist communication channels.
